Reunion Weekend Re-cap

Well, we made it through our first class reunion. I can't believe ten years have come and gone so quickly. I posted pictures to my Facebook account, so please tag yourself (or others) and leave comments.

For those of you that couldn't make it, here's a brief re-cap of the weekend:

Family Night - Friday, July 23, 2010
The weather was great and not as hot as we thought it might be. Barry Payne catered for us and brought BBQ, chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, lemon pound cake, chocolate pound cake and tea.The kids had a small bubble machine and coloring station, but several played on the playground. The breeze was nice since our shelter was right by the water. Thanks so much to Erin Pirtle for organizing the event and even special ordering black and gold balloons with "2000" on them!

Reunion - Saturday, July 24, 2010

One Eleven was a great venue for our special night. The indoor / outdoor flow was quite popular with everyone and the view we had was amazing. Upon arriving to the 4th floor, guests were greeted with an HHS-themed memory table, signed in, got name tags, drink money and a time capsule (if they filled one out). We decorated the space with black tables and chairs, black and gold linens, shakers and votives.

Sugar and Spice catered the event with made-from-scratch goodies like Mississippi Chicken, smashed potatoes, string-style green beans, parmesean rolls, romaine crunch salad and tea. The dessert options were my favorite though...pound cake with a fresh fruit compote or a caramel brownie cheesecake.

The bar was well-stocked with wine, beer, liquor, soft drinks, water and tea.

The indoor area of the venue was air-conditioned (although it could have been cooler!) and located between the indoor patio and rooftop areas, so guests could easily flow from one area to the next.

The DJ set up in the indoor patio (as required by One Eleven), but it was a bit hot (to say the least) at times, so there wasn't a ton of dancing, BUT if we had awards to give out for "Best Dancer"...Brent Gregath, Lisa Gentry Sharp and Stacy Coons Muth would have all tied :) Just to name a few, but several of you owned the dance floor!

Speaking of hypothetical awards, "Best Dressed" would've gone to David Sumners and Josiah Gallagher for showing up in tuxes! Chris and Tara (Garrison) Roach would've received the award for "Most Miles Traveled" since they came all the way from California just to attend. Of course "Best Committee" goes to Erin Kyle (Eades) Willis, Erin Pirtle, Amanda Lake and Joanna (Smith) Legan for their willingness to help plan everything and make the weekend so unforgettable. And that was our goal--to get everyone together again to have a few fun nights, chat about high school days and see how much we've all changed over the past 10 years.

There was no drama (at least none that I saw) and some classmates that didn't get along in high school were chatting it up like the past was truly in the past.

Our evening ended at 11 p.m., which meant our clean-up crew got put to work. A special shout out to Jeremy Willis, Eric Haag and Ryan McDuffie for sticking around to help clean up. The caterer left to-go boxes and there was tons of food leftover, so some folks even took food with them as they hit up the Nashville scene afterwards.

Please feel free to add your own memories from the weekend to our "HHS Class of 2000" Facebook page or this blog post. For anyone that's not a member of our FB group, please invite them to join so we can all keep in touch better.

I loved seeing all of you over the weekend and can't wait until the next one rolls around. Did I mention that Michael Jobe, Ashik Jahan and Tyler Mallison offered to plan it...hehehe.

Actually, several of you came up to me and said you'd be interested in planning the next one, so that is greatly appreciated! Until 2020 and with love....Tyra
